Gold Smugglers Caught With $380k Of Gold Under Their Wigs In Airport

Two men were caught smuggling gold and cash into an airport, underneath their wigs.

Suspects Magroob Akbarali and Zubair Hassan Rafiyutheen were stopped while leaving the airport on Sunday because of their suspicious hairstyles.

Officials soon discovered they were wearing wigs concealing two gold paste packets weighing 698 grams.

Officials can be seen peeling back the fake hair to reveal black packets filled with cash and gold paste glued to crook's heads.

The cash, along with chunks of gold and other illicit items can be seen laid out on the counter as the crooks watch on in embarrassment.

The pair were arrested in the airport terminal after arriving at Chennai from Dubai.

Airport customs officials seized gold and foreign currency worth a total of $382,943 (£277,961) from southern India's Chennai International Airport on March 21.

A similar incident took place on Friday when three men were arrested at Chennai airport for concealing gold under their wigs.

Three gold paste packets weighing 2410 grams were found on the passengers who had travelled from Dubai and Sharjah.
