Strange Grey sea creature has washed up and found decomposing in the sand on Perth beach

A mystery sea creature has washed up on a Perth beach.

Images of the slimy dead fish were posted online, with debate amongst social media users quickly developing as to what it could possibly be.

The strange creature, which has a huge grey body and white belly, was found decomposing on the shore of Fremantle Beach, Western Australia.

Some punters were quick to point out that the fish appeared to be missing part of its body on either side, with rough chunks filleted out of the flesh.

'That is spectacular,' one man wrote.

'Kind of looks like a bloated decomposing ray,' added another.

One user suggested that the creature could have been an eagle ray, a type of sting ray recognised by their long tails and well-defined bodies.

He claimed the eagle ray's wings had been cut off to make scallops.

Internet users were mystified last week after a bizarre white object washed up on a Filipino beach.

The 2,000kg furry object was later confirmed to be the decaying carcass of a whale.
