A selfie with one of the world's largest snakes might sound like an adventurous looking Facebook profile photo.
But one man was left bruised after attempting to snap the perfect picture with a 13-foot python captured in Rajasthan, India this morning.
The man, believed to be in his 20s and wearing a pink T-shirt and beige trousers, learnt that this reptile wasn't ready to be messed with when he approached a group carrying a snake down the side of a muddy slope.
Smartphone in hand, he walks backwards towards the group hoping to capture his selfie.
The snake is apparently not a fan of having its picture taken and, when the photographer is close enough, the reptile strikes.
Completely caught off guard when the snake bites his shoulder he shrieks with pain, slides down the hill and then out of shot.
The group carrying the snake look on in shock.
According to India Today the man was unhurt - this is because pythons kill their prey by constricting them.
Pythons are not venomous, but have an extremely powerful strike.
They will generally not attack humans unless startled or provoked.
