Tiger Drags woman off and Mauls another after she leaves car following safari park in China

Chinese media reported this morning that the deadly attack took place at Badaling Wildlife World in Beijing yesterday when one of the women left the car after a row.

Chinanews reported that the tiger quickly attacked her and dragged her off, prompting the second woman to leave the vehicle in an attempt to help, it wrote on its microblog account.

Another tiger mauled her to death, before carrying off her body.

An insider told online news portal Sohu that it is believed the group was a family of four, made up of three adults and a child.

It claims the younger of the two women left the car following an argument and it was when the older woman went to save her that she was herself mauled by one of the giant cats.

The two women were accompanied by a man - who aided the rescue attempt - and a small child, who were uninjured, Chinanews said, adding that the park has been ordered to close for "rectification."

The footage shows a young woman getting out of the car and talking to a man still inside when she is dragged off by a tiger.

The man and another older woman jump out of the vehicle and run off into the woods to save her.

The park allows visitors to drive their own cars safari style through an open space where the animals roam free, although visitors are urged not to leave their vehicles.

Sohu reported that park personnel quickly rushed to the women's aide, but were too late to save one of them.

The injured woman is recovering from her wounds in hospital, it added.

There was no mention of the incident on the park's web page or social media account. A post on its microblog said that it was closed due to "heavy rains".

The Yanqing district government confirmed in an official microblog post that the tiger attack took place at the park, which lies at the foot of the Great Wall. It offered few details but said the injured person was being treated.

The park has had at least one previous tiger attack, Sohu said, noting that a security guard was mauled to death in August 2014.
