This shocking CCTV footage shows the punch which floored a man who racially abused a passer-by - and left him drinking through a straw.
Drunken Zack Collins made a number of racist remarks to people in the street as he staggered home from a nightclub, a court heard.
One of those comments was aimed at the brother of Sami Krasniqi, who dealt out his own brutal justice by punching Collins to the back of the head.
CCTV shows Collins drop to the floor and Krasniqi, 26, can be seen putting his victim into the recovery position before leaving.
Plymouth Crown Court in Devon heard the punch left Mr Collins with six missing teeth, a fractured jaw and unable to eat - even through a straw.
Judge Alan Large jailed Krasniqi to eight months for causing grievous bodily harm, plus an extra four for breaching an earlier suspended sentence.
Defending, Nigel Hall said: "[Krasniqi] has to realise he can't take the law into his own hands - he knows that racial abuse isn't going to stop and he has to learn how to deal with it."
Mr Collins had been out clubbing with a friend in Plymouth and was highly intoxicated when he left and began walking home with a friend at 6am on June 22.
As they walked he made a number of comments to people who told him to "shut the f**k up", according to his friend.
Minutes later Mr Collins called a stranger - who turned out to be Krasniqi's brother - a racially abusive term, and had to be held back by his pal, who apologised.
CCTV operators spotted the pair and tracked them, apparently catching Mr Collins making a comment to a black man, while Krasniqi and his brother walked behind.
The 'red mist came down' and despite only intending to give Mr Collins a 'fat lip', Krasniqi punched him hard to the back of the head.
Prosecutor Alistair Verheijen said he lost two of his upper front teeth, four of his lower front teeth, a cut to his cheek, a fractured jaw, a 3 cm cut to his tongue and a bone in his ear canal was fractured.
He said Mr Collins could not eat solid foods for two weeks and was in such pain and discomfort he was even unable to suck up blended food through a straw.
Officers who arrested Krasniqi also found him to be in possession of a knife with a two-and-a-half inch blade which was apparently used for his work.
Mr Hall said members of his client's family had endured 'some form of racial abuse' on a daily basis and he didn't realise he was following the man who had earlier abused his brother.
Krasniqi was already subject to a 12 month sentence, suspended for 18 months after an incident the previous December where he threw a glass at a woman in a pub.
Judge Large sentenced Krasniqi to four months for breaching the suspended sentence and eight months for the latest offence to run consecutively, totalling 12 months.
