Brazilian woman's dying body is dragged behind police car after hit in crossfire during drugs gang gun battle

This is the horrifying moment the body of a dying woman is left dragging along the road hanging out the back of a police car.

Claudia Silva Ferreira was hit in crossfire during an alleged exchange of bullets between police and traffickers in Morro da Congonha favela in Madurai, Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning.

The innocent 38-year-old mother of four, who had gone out to buy bread for her family, was alive when her body was allegedly 'thrown like a piece of meat' into the boot of the police car by three officers who have since been arrested.

Her body fell out of the vehicle and was left hanging on just by her clothing. She was dragged along for 250 metres before officers stopped.

Footage of her body being dragged along the road by a police car was taken as officers transported her to the nearest hospital.

According to her son, his mother was alive and shaking her head when she was put into the boot of the car. Police protocol states that an injured person should be accompanied on the back seat.

When I arrived at the hospital, they said she had gone to the ICU, but she was already dead. She gets shot in the chest and is dragged to the ground .

How will survive? We have four children, a 18, a 16 and a couple of twins who turns 10 on Sunday.

My son does not want to see his mother in the coffin, but he has to do. I am preparing them .'s their mother, I can not hide it, "said the husband of Claudia.

Silva believes that the woman would not have died had he not been dragged. "If they had not dragged her, she could be alive," said the widower, adding that the military police did not preserve the crime scene.

Claudia was 38, was the mother of four children and raised four nephews. The body of general services assistant was buried.
