These images show the terrifying moment a burger van burst into flames - showering a car park with shards of glass and metal.
CCTV captured a worker from the neighbouring meat factory tossing a cigarette butt out of his car window moments before the fireball erupted.
More than £10,000-worth of damage was done to the former motorway pit-stop, parked cars and KD Catering Butchers in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
One factory worker was sitting in his car just a few yards from the trailer when the van, which sells food and drink off a layby on the A22 by day, erupted at 5.45am on 29 August.
Miraculously, nobody was injured after lethal debris was sent 40 feet into the air.
All that was left of the trailer was a burnt out shell.
Kevin Delves, owner of KD Catering Butchers plant and its car park, said he allowed the woman who owned the trailer to park it there at night.
Mr Delves, 51, said: 'I had only been at work for half an hour when I heard this almighty explosion and saw a bright flash of flames.
'The whole building shook, a window was blown out, and light fittings and plaster came away from the ceilings.
'A few of us dashed out of a fire exit to see the trailer in flames, the car park covered in shrapnel, and - most worryingly - gas leaking from a canister.
'As soon as I saw the leak and other canisters nearby I turned and got back inside as quickly as possible to dial 999.'
He added: 'The video shows one of my butchers pulling up, and appearing to throw a cigarette butt out of his car window immediately before the blast.
'I think it's a coincidence because the wind was blowing the gas in the opposite direction and the explosion started from within the trailer.'
Mr Delves said the cause of the fire is unknown but he believes there was a gas leak in the trailer which was sparked by an electrical appliance switching on.
