Chinese girl's head stuck in bars at tower 70 meters above the ground

A young girl is rescued by a neighbour after becoming trapped by her head 70 metres above the ground.

A five-year-old girl has been rescued by firefighters after getting her head trapped between window bars at the top of a 24-storey apartment block.

China's state broadcaster showed footage of the girl holding onto the bars and rescue workers frantically tried to reach her.

The girl, who had been locked in her home on her own in Daye in Hubei province, climbed out of the living room window on Saturday.

She went on to get her head caught between the bars around 70 metres above the ground.

Local media reports said a neighbour heard her cry and called police and firefighters.

When they arrived, they found the girl's home locked from the inside.

They broke into the room and started cutting through the window bars to rescue her.

A resident climbed out from a neighbour's window and reached the child.

With one hand holding onto the grille, the man supported the girl's body with his shoulder before rescuers wrapped her with a sheet and helped her back into the room.
