Prince Harry joins wounded troops in volleyball game in Colorado

Prince Harry starts a rearguard action with wounded troops ... joining in a laugh-a-minute game of sitting volleyball yesterday.

Dressed in Army boots and combat fatigues, he drew howls of laughter as he fell backwards when one move went wrong.

L-Cpl Maurillia Simpson said: “He kept saying, ‘Do I really have to try to hit the ball?’ And I was saying ‘Yes you do!’”

The Prince met 30 British athletes at the Warrior Games in Colorado, a Paralympics-style contest for military personnel.

He helped light the flame with blind US Paralympian Lieutenant Brad Snyder and Olympian Missy Franklin.

Former RAF reservist Erica Vey, 31, said he talked of bringing the games to London’s Olympic Stadium.

The Prince said: “I only hope that in the near future we can bring the Warrior Games to Britain and continue to enlarge this fantastic cause.”
