Huge Baby Weighing 15 Pounds 7 Ounces Born in England

A British couple gave birth to a baby weighing 15 pounds 7 ounces, twice the size of an average newborn. Reports according to The Christian Post claim that the baby, weighing 7 kgs, is the second-biggest newborn ever delivered vaginally in the United Kingdom.

Born to parents Jade and Ryan King of England, baby George King, who was born six weeks ago, is 67 cm tall and wears clothes made for a 6-month-old, reports Daily Mail.

It was only when the baby's head emerged during the labor, did the doctors realize how big it was. They were surprised on seeing the king-sized baby. Due to his big size, the delivery was difficult, as his shoulders got stuck inside while Jade was trying to give birth. He has gained another one pound since he was born.

"He's a little miracle-well, a big miracle, really. There was about 20-odd doctors in the room, and that's when it got really scary" Jade King told the BBC.

He is called a miracle baby because he survived without oxygen for 5 minutes and had just 10 percent chances of survival.

George was born in Cheltenham and later shifted to Bristol, where they kept him for nearly four and half weeks. Only after receiving normal MRI reports was the baby allowed to go home.

Doctors are still trying to solve the mystery of what led George to be oversized. According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and gynaecologists, this medical condition, termed as 'macrosomia', arrives when mothers suffer from gestational diabetes.

According to IBTimes, the biggest newborn ever was in Ohio, weighing a startling 23 pounds, 12 ounces (Guinness World Records report), but he died the next day.
