The fifth annual Pattaya International Charity Bed Race has drawn hundreds of locals and tourists to the Pattaya beach resort in Thailand.
Thirty-two teams of six took part in this year's race which involves competitors donning bizarre costumes and pushing beds down the 1.5 kilometre course on Walking Street as quickly as possible .
'We just heard about the Father Greg foundation and the bed race to help poor children and we want to be a part of it to have some fun and help the poor children,' bed racing participant Pasha Shishkin told Reuters.
The event originally involved contestants pushing local hospital beds down the track, but those involved soon stepped up the creativity of their bed designs. The competition now features colourful beds decked out as intricately as parade floats.
The team from the Mercure Hotel took home the winners' trophy, while the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya team won the prize for the most exciting and the Pullman G Hotel team topped the most colourful category.
Thailand's tourism authority showed their appreciation to all contestants with a participation trophy.
