Life Saving Cop or Brutality? CCTV officer punching man in face seconds after saving his LIFE

CCTV footage, released by the MBTA Transit Police in Massachusetts, shows a man about to fall onto the train tracks, before Detective Shawn Conway springs into action and pulls him back onto the platform.

But just seconds later, in a part of the clip the transport police chose not to release until recently, the detective drags the man to the ground and starts punching him in the face.

The clip, which was obtained by WCVB 5 Investigates, also shows the injuries the man, named as Anthony Ferrier, allegedly received.

MBTA Transit Police said: "Detective Conway's use of force was justified and commensurate for the situation.

"Conway was in compliance with [the department's Use of Force] policy."

The full footage was not released at the time of the incident last May, and it has taken eight months for the public to be granted access to the clip.

But Ferrier's lawyers are not convinced, and say they are likely to file a civil law suit.

Ferrier's lawyer added: "Properly trained police officers do not punch people in the face."
